ABOUT THE QUARRYMAN CHALLENGE

The Lemont Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile and 5K road race will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008.

The Lemont Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile and 5K road race offers elite athletes, age group competitors and fitness runners a different, challenging course in Lemont’s unique, scenic and small town setting.

The 10 mile and 5K race start and finish in historic downtown Lemont. Each race course winds through the unique, scenic and hilly historic neighborhoods of Lemont. Please review the Course Information and Map page for detailed information of each course.

We have added a new short course 5K event to the 2008 race. We also have made a few minor changes to the 10 mile course.

The Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile & 5K will be electronically timed using the new, innovative Ipico Sports timing tag www.ipicosports.com. This new timing system has been used in the Bolder Boulder, the largest road race in America and the highly competitive Steamboat Classic in Peoria, Illinois. Timing will include electronic start / finish times. The 10 mile event also includes an electronically timed 5 mile split time.

The 2008 Quarryman Challenge also will be offering our unique hand made “piece of the rock” awards made from local quarry stone. These awards are offered in both the 10 Mile and 5K races to 1st – 3rd overall male and female and all standard 5 year age groups.

The 2008 Quarryman Challenge also offers prize money to 1st – 3rd overall in the 10 mile event and a new “King of the Hill” prize money awards. Please review our awards page for information on prize money and awards.

The Quarryman Challenge 10 Mile & 5K post race includes separate award ceremonies for the 10 Mile and 5K events, music and a unique “Taste of Lemont” featuring food and beverages from a variety of Lemont restaurants. Please check back as race day approaches for more details on the post race party.

Come visit our community and run one of the most challenging, unique and scenic road races in the Chicago area.
